If you tell me that you don't use AI then I believe you.  However I do use it. It's incorporated in the latest generation of Sony cameras, in photo editing software like Photoshop, Topaz Labs, Luminar, Lightroom,.. Video editors like Runway use it. It's in your phone, your car, your house, your browser and it's evolving faster than any scifi author could have imagined 10 years ago.  AI is everywhere and just like the climatic abberations humanity has caused: it's here to stay and to change our lives. The cyberpunk dystopia that was imagined in the last decennia of the 20th century is our present.. and so is all the corporate/religious/state control, the fear-mongering, the lack of common sense, the self-destructive behaviour for short term wins/profits, the dumbing down, the fear/hate for the unknown, the lack of schooling that opens the mind instead of turning bright young people into worker ants who only believe those who yell the hardest, the black/white thinki

There are two kind of genre events in the Benelux: The big ones. Nearly all of them are owned by large corporations ( multinationals even ), held in big venues and these have become éxtremely expensive for both visitors and vendors. For the current entry prices you expect to be WOW-ed and entertained at a high level. High expectations are always difficult to meet. And there are a few tiny events trying to stay afloat. Just like for the big events the prices to get something organised have gone through the roof. But they mostly work with volonteers instead of a corporate overhead workforce consisting of more high payed managers than workers and they don't need to bring home truckloads of cash to please the shareholders & investors. For us Europeans February 12 2021 was a palindrome date. (12022021.. Just look at the beauty of those numbers, so I just had to make a picture on that day.) And eventhough i´m living in it.. 2021 still sounds like pure scifi to me. But i can´t seem to choose between a #cyberpunk scifi like Shadowrun or a purely #dystopian world as projected in the Purge and something way more #postapocalyptic . I guess we´ll wait and see.
