Depression

Short days.
Little sunlight.
Cold.
Isolation.
Illness.
No prospects.
Solitude.
Rainy & dreary weather.
Fast rising prices of everything they need to pay and everything they would love to pay.
The impossibility to do what they dream of.
The imminent collapse of the immense Chinese real estate economy.
The removal of the happy Christmas lights from the streets.
Long dark nights.
Plenty of time for dark thoughts to fester in minds that have been hurt too many times.
Sometimes all they need is a helping hand for them to see a way out.

Sometimes you simply can't see the way out #depression

This article is about using (vintage) Minolta/Sigma/Sony/Tamron/.. A-mount lenses on contemporary Sony E-mount cameras. Since the Sony LA-EA5 adapter has been released I have been answering dozens of the same questions about compatibility issues from both retailers and end-users. Some questions & personal experiences with the different adapters were special, so I have tested some combinations and made a small list of my findings. Ook in 2025 organiseerde de Landcommanderij Alden Biesen een gemaskerd bal. Ditmaal stond de Soirée Masquée helemaal in het teken van Giacomo Casanova en de Rococo . Denk aan krullende pruiken, kniekousen, baljurken die bigger than life zijn en al die aandacht voor details waar de adel uit 1750 voor bekend stond. En geloof me vrij: sommige kostuums en looks waren adembenemend. Event - Antwerp Fashion Weekend (2025)

Wanting to try new things. Combining jobs. Learning new skills at my age. Turning raw ideas into storyboards for shortfilms. Coping with Ménières disease. Knowing time is ticking away. The RED360. Trying to do some good in bad times. So yes; I haven't covered many events in 2025 and only a few will follow in the next months. But eventhough I was hardly able to stand on my own 2 legs while looking around, how could I refuse the opportunity to stand just one more time at the head of a red carpet? Event - Winter in Pairi Daiza

Every season Pairi Daiza, Le Jardin des Mondes , hosts special events. The festival of lights & carnaval have brought some light to the dark season.. which is probably not a very good thing for the resident animals.. but it was a blessing for us humans fearing the Dark of Winter . .  A photo gallery: The fire show was by Pyronix Productions & the beautiful Venetian carnevale costumes in the Dome are from Regards Vénitiens . Both splendid! The only 2 things I found a missed opportunity during the 3 weeks of Carnevale were: 1. The teams of costumed people were only to be found in the Dome and at the entrance. Please let them roam the entire park and how wonderful would it be to have them in themed costumes from the different regions in the park.  2. Organise a (1) Fully costumed visitors enter for free -day.. or for a reduced price. A heads-up: on November 17th 2024 we'll be hosting a videobooth on Geek Village ( Thor Central, Genk ) in room 12 ( named Trovao ). It will be the 1st time we put the 360° videobooth on a fair.. so it's somewhere between in between scary & exciting. Sony tech - Using APS-C mode on Full Frame cameras

 " Why? " You will probably ask while shaking your head. " Why would you do such a thing? " 1. WHAT? Let us start with the " What? " In Sony full frame mirrorless cameras you can always switch between using the camera full frame or in APS-C-mode. This changes your field of view into a " zoomed feel ". What really happens is that in this APS-C mode the processor uses only a part of the sensor. This part is the same size as an APS-C sensor as found in the A6000-series. For photo you always sacrifice megapixels in this "cropped" mode. For video this APS-C mode is called Super 35 mode and has several advantages. But this article is mostly about photography. In video you might want to read this article and consider that for example the full frame A7IV automatically snaps into Super35-mode when you switch it to 4k 50p/60p. Sony tech - How to use the A7SIII with an APS-C / Super 35mm lens?

During training with the Sony A7SIII a common question I get is: since you can't use Super 35 mode in 4k video,  can you still use APS-C lenses to film with? It's logical that you can't use Super 35 mode (= APS-C sized video mode) in 4k since the A7SIII films 4.2k in full sensor readout. Hence you can only use the Super 35 mode in FHD (1080p). In Sony full frame mirrorless cameras you can always switch between using the camera full frame or in APS-C. For photo you always sacrifice megapixels. The A9/A9II/A7II/A7III's 24MP becomes 10MP in APS-C, A7RIII's 42MP becomes a usuable 18MP in APS-C, A7RIV's 61MP becomes a very decent 26MP in APS-C. The advantage for photo is that you can turn a 600mm lens into a 900mm lens without teleconvertor. Event - Carnaval Tongeren 2025

Ja, het is weer die periode van het jaar dat Limburgers, Brabanders en vele andere feestzielen wekelijks ergens carnaval kunnen gaan vieren. Tongeren, Aalst en vast nog heel andere plaatsen openden dit jaar gezamenlijk het eerste carnavalsweekend. Aangezien ik de afgelopen weken weer 7 op 7 aan het werk was en ook de dag ervoor nog een Experience Day had, maakte ik van de gelegenheid gebruik om te genieten van enkele drankjes en van de heerlijke voorlentezon ipv enkel door de zoekers van de camera's te staren.  Bovendien was het ditmaal zo ongezien druk in de straten door de duizenden bezoekers dat een drankje meer dan nodig was om de introversie te overwinnen en me door de massa te wringen. Event - Carnaval Tongeren 2023

Have you ever been to a carnaval parade?  There are several genres. You've got the stylish & elegant Venetian style parades and there are those where the people take back the right to satire everything they see in the world around them. The best known & biggest ( 105k spectators on Sunday ) carnaval parade in my country is the carnaval in Aalst which happened at the same moment as the one in Tongeren.  But I took my electric step and vroomed to the eldest city in Belgium: Atuatuca Tungrorum ( founded 7 BC ) and I enjoyed myself. . Just like many other regions, Limburg has a rich carnaval history and you could really see the people yearn for this parade. The 2019 canaraval got cancelled last minute due to a storm. 2020-21 Had a pandemic. Apparently there was a tiny last-minute carnaval parade in 2022.. yet I seem to have missed it.. and not just me.
