Streetart - Augmented reality in the street with Faune

-

If you know me, you know my admiration for street art.

Interactive streetart (see video) by Adrien M & Claire B x Brest Brest Brest.. and I love it!

However streetart can be interlaced with augmented reality or virtual reality and present a brand new genre of urban horror. I found a few of these posters in Verdun, Paris & Tournai, but they are hidden everywhere.
If you find one, install the free Faune app and simply aim your phone, tablet or VR-goggles to the poster. Don't forget to crank up the sound if you spot one.

This augmented reality urban art concept was created by Adrien M  +  Claire B + BrestBrestBrest for the Faune Project.

I've used these interactive posters to scare the hell out of my American followers on Clapper đŸ€

Sony tech - Using A-mount lenses on E-mount cameras

-
Afbeelding
This article is about using (vintage) Minolta/Sigma/Sony/Tamron/.. A-mount lenses on contemporary Sony E-mount cameras. Since the Sony LA-EA5 adapter has been released I have been answering dozens of the same questions about compatibility issues from both retailers and end-users. Some questions & personal experiences with the different adapters were special, so I have tested some combinations and made a small list of my findings. Yes, at first -back in 2021- I wanted to make this into a Youtube video.. alas I don't like looking at myself so I stopped editing it. And then in 2023 I glued some of those old clips together into: https://youtu.be/-VLe6eBQpME 1. Sample images are in this Flickr folder ( always making more sample images) 2. Gear Used : 2.1. Adapters : LA-EA3, LA-EA4, LA-EA5 2.2. E-mount cameras cat1: A1, A7SIII, A7IV, A7RV, FX30, ZV-E1 2.3. E-mount cameras cat2: A9II, A7III, A7RIV, A7C, A6600, A6400, ZV-E10 ( also goes for A7RIII, A9, A6100 ) 2.4. E-...

Sony tech - Photo Capture from video-function

-
Afbeelding
A question I often get during events is: " Don't you find it just awful when you're filming a bit and suddenly you see an image that would have made a great photo? " But there is a solution to fix this: The Photo Capture function in the current generations of Sony cameras just might save you. ( Yes, this is a photo Capture from an A7III 4k 25p 8bit 4.2.0 video. ) Which cameras? I've been using this function since my A7III. It can also be activated on for example A7RIII, A7SIII, A7RIV, A7IV, A9, A9II, A1, A7RV, A7C, FX30, A6100, A6400, A6600, ZV-E10, ZV-1, ZV-1F, RX100VII, and even on some Sony video cameras . Full Youtube video Went live on February 10th 2023 ( Yes, 1.5 years after this article was written.. and I still don't enjoy watching/hearing/editing myself on the screen ) How does it work? 1. You shoot a video. ( 8k, 4k, 1080p, horizontal or vertical video orientation, S&Q-video , 8bit or 10bit, 4.2.0 or 4.2.2,.. ) 2. On a quiet moment you ...

Event - Kermis Tongeren (2026)

-
Afbeelding

Collab - Steampunk & Victorian shootday (2023)

Sometimes, when you don't choose a shooting location yourself, you arrive, you sigh deeply and think: " How am I going to make this work? " But last Sunday I arrived at the castle of Tillegem and went: " Oh, this is a pretty castle.. I like that tower. " So I just looked for an angle from where I could set up camp and did just that after only a quarter tour around. There where doublessly better & more interesting angles. I could have changed spots as I usually do.. But with an ankle that's still healing from serious injury this wasn't an option. Hence, yes.. most shots have a very similar look. After a wet, cold & weird Summer, this September has become a perfect Indian Summer; warm, sunny and with steampunkish dresses. The weather was perfect & most people were smiling. INFO: A photos will be downloadable from my extremely ecclectic Flickr (UPDATE: all done) A video will  go to my Clapper & Instagram Updates on progress will be o...

Sony tech - Rename your photo & video files in-camera

-
Afbeelding
Normally all your photos will be named " DSC123 " and your videos " C123 ". But that's the best way to loose oversight, to overwrite and to forget what was shot when/with which camera. There are solutions for this in the new and newest Sony Alpha / FX / ZV / RX - cameras PHOTO FILES You should give your photo files personalized names instead of that generic ”Dsc” prefix. This is possible on the current Alpha, Rx, Zv, and FX‐cameras from Sony. I give mine the prefix of the used camera because I work with several cameras. But you might just as well use something more personal like something that points to your name or your company / brand name. Or even change the name temporarily if you have a big project. Why? A few of the many reasons: 1. I own and work with several cameras ( during events normally 2 main + 1 BTS ) So it's important while editing/sorting to immediately see which camera made what. 2. We often work in teams during large events. This way w...

Sony tech - The A7RV menu system

-
Afbeelding
For those who have received their Sony A7RV camera and are new to the Sony ecosystem or who want to find some of the new features hidden in the menu of this 61MP-behemoth with it's extra AI Autofocussing processor ( yes, that makes 3 processors inside 1 camera ) I'm doing a walkthough. There will be some real-life samples with cats, cows, fighterjets & horses, some things you probably already know and best of all: 40 minutes of my hoarse bronchitis-stricken voice. Enjoy . The Youtube video : Some of the items touched in this video: Auto ISO minimum shutter speed, different AF options, setting up the Fn/favorites menu & buttons, 1 button tracking, 1 button APS-C/Super35 mode, Clear image zoom, saving your camera settings, using your cellphone as a remote, .. Sample images made with A7RV ( mostly made before there was any RAW-support )

Event - Fully Booked 2026

Collab - Steampunk explorers of the Unknown

Afbeelding
During the shooting day at the Verbeke Foundation last month I got a quick glimpse of this soon-to-be-married steampunk couple. And BAM here they are again! I blame it on Geert who keeps on bringing cosplayers & photographers together. I still had an explorer/haunted mansion/Cthulhu investigator-idea with a Lovecraftian vibe like the tabletop RPG's Call of Cthulu & Candela Obscure to shoot with them from last time at this location.. so I made this ▼ All photos are on Flickr ( UPDATE: everything has been uploaded ) A short video will go to Clapper & Instagram . Updates on how fast I advance in processing are on the Facebook page . Video 1 on Clapper: In the trenches of 1899 (= a slightly different version from the IG video) Video 2 on Clapper: Discoveries Video 3 on Clapper: A random encounter in Hell Some samples while waiting for me to finish work: . Event - Sanicole Airshow 2022

-
Afbeelding
Sometimes work brings you to interesting places you might never visit otherwise.    The biggest airshow of the Benelux is such a place. Eventhought we were so busy lending out gear and explaining camera settings that we didn't manage to go much further than 50 meters from our booth ( except for food & beer runs ), we did make a few shots with the selection of Sony lenses we were showcasing .. because WE CAN! . I can't give any comments on all the events happening at the venue because we didn't have the opportunity to walk the grounds. We did see and hear what happened in the air and that was impressive to say the least. One can only be dazzled by both the pilot's skills and by the skills of everyone designing & building such machines.. both old ones and new ones. Yes, that F-35 will tear your eardrums to pieces if it wants to, but you have to admire the sudden moves it can make in the air while being such a big chunk of metal. The event was completely so...

Sony tech - Save/load camera settings

-
Afbeelding
It's true: once you have completely set-up your Sony Alpha / FX-camera to your likings as I showed you in this video / article , you can save those settings in some of the cameras. This feature can be found on the following Sony cameras at the moment : A7RIV, A9II, A7SIII, A1, A7IV, FX6, FX3, FX30, A7RV. And it seems to be an overlooked feature, judging by the astonished reactions during the trainings I give. 1. What? Save/load settings means you can load a series of settings onto you camera from a memory card or from your phone via the free Sony Imaging Edge Mobile app. Other way around you can save some of your settings onto a memory card or onto your phone. On a memory card you can save 10 settings. ( SD or CFExpress A, depending on your camera) On your phone you can save 22 settings. ( Which are most of the important settings ) Some info you cannot save due to privacy regulations ( Copyright info for example ) You cannot swap settings between different camera types at ...
