Starting a review with some words of praise seems right. Thank you Elftopia for installing huge umbrellas at the food area so people could eat without getting scorched by the sun ( and guess what; if it rains, those same umbrellas also protect cosplays and cameras ).  Thank you Elftopia for lowering the price of water during the ongoing heatwave.  Thank you Elftopia for making sure there was plenty to see, and to do, other than posing/shooting for photographers/cosplayers, or having a chat with friends, followers & acquintances.  Thank you Elftopia for an efficient, and well-controlled parking system.  Thank you Elftopia for not selling every shot of mead at 7€.  Thank you Elftopia for making the potato field behind the pink chapel finally accessable to diabled persons, and no longer a hazard for ankles. Elftopia is the only outdoors fantasy Summer event aka Renaissance fair in Flanders. Every year I say: " This was my last visit to Elftopia ." And yet every year somebody convinces me to go say Hi-with-a-camera. Time is the deadliest and stealthiest of killers. Old age will come for many of us and if we're really lucky, all it will do is prevent us from covering 3 different events in one weekend and from carelessly drinking during each of those. Alas for many people aging is much worse . Elftopia was my 3rd event of the weekend and I'm one of those lucky ones.. although I was already in full zombie-mode after Friday night and 100% exhausted after enjoying the Antwerp Pride Parade . To throw an axe and drink some mead were my goals for Elftopia. I would have loved to add pancakes to that list. Because eating pancakes in a kilt while drinking a single malt and throwing axes at rotten apples balancing on the heads of those who destroy our forests, hunt our wildlife and plunder our Mother Earth, is the most manly thing one ( m/v/x ) can do on this planet. . The renaissance fair Elftopia has a wonderful location in a castle park but for some reason the Comic Con Belgium-group who owns this fantasy fair seems to hold it back. Maybe letting a few corporate multinationals purchase & organize almost all major geek-events wasn't the best idea. Why complain?  Since we got early bird tickets for Saturday, the entrance price was still acceptable ( not like the crazy 30€ at the gate ) Since we got there ridiculously early, we got a spot on the parking ( and 8€ is an acceptable price to stand at 50m from the festival gate ) The weather was sunny & warm ( o...
