This article is about using (vintage) Minolta/Sigma/Sony/Tamron/.. A-mount lenses on contemporary Sony E-mount cameras. Since the Sony LA-EA5 adapter has been released I have been answering dozens of the same questions about compatibility issues from both retailers and end-users. Some questions & personal experiences with the different adapters were special, so I have tested some combinations and made a small list of my findings. Allow me to sum up a few ingredients that make several ( outdoors ) costume events very enjoyable: No rain + casual strolls through a gorgeous location + drinks with nice people + casually making a photo of a splendid or funny or catchy constume + decent food + things to do/see + musical (re)discoveries + some more wine, whisky, or mead. The annual cosplay day at the Verbeke Foundation , one of the strangest ( yet fascinating ) musea in Belgium, had yet again many of those ingredients in its recipe. Collab - The AI dilemma ( Animating the Imperial Guard)

Last Thursday the tiny dirt road I needed to take was blocked by a concrete barricade. I cursed ( several times ) and then I thought: " That's actually a cool barricade for a Warhammer 40k shoot. " So I got out of the car, took a picture and had an even worse idea. It took 2 old urbex pictures from back in 2016 and the new concrete slab cellphone photo plus some Photoshop compositing magic to let Firefly AI finalize this composition into the kind of Space Hulk tunnel I wanted. Then I combined 2 stills from @Kyden_cosplay 's props + Cadian commissar cosplay ( made during @GeekVillagebelgium + @GeeksandFreaksnl ) and noticed I had not photographed his legs, so I added the lower part from a macrophoto of a commissar-miniature I had shot during Trolls-et-Légendes ( Sorry, don't know who painted it ). Sony tech - The A7RV menu system

For those who have received their Sony A7RV camera and are new to the Sony ecosystem or who want to find some of the new features hidden in the menu of this 61MP-behemoth with it's extra AI Autofocussing processor ( yes, that makes 3 processors inside 1 camera ) I'm doing a walkthough. There will be some real-life samples with cats, cows, fighterjets & horses, some things you probably already know and best of all: 40 minutes of my hoarse bronchitis-stricken voice. Enjoy . Collab - Halloween at Verbeke Foundation (2023)

Have I ever told you the story about a shooting day during which I survived all day on 1 glass of white wine? Well, that day was yesterday.  Now, knowing myself, this could easily become a long & boring story so I'll stick to the famous 6-points synopsys: ▷ Drove from the South-East of Limburg to the Verbeke Foundation, a unique and quirky museum for modern art in East-Flanders and got there really early, ▷ Started shooting cosplayers in full Halloween mode near a derelict train-crane, ▷ Drank 1 glass of white wine, ▷ Shot even more Halloween cosplayers till 15minutes after the museum had closed, ▷ Suddenly realized I had completely forgotten to eat, drink, be polite & socialize.. again. ▷ The end? Event - Sniffing Velvet (2026)

Last Summer we made a series of short videos  in which members of the LGBTQIA+ talked about how they feel in the cosplay scene. Matti, one of the cosplayers, dreamed of becoming a drag queen and gave some insights in the power that a costume and a persona can give . That power was obvious once the stars of Sniffing Velvet  entered the stage.  The baddest bitches in the house did what made them feel alive, good & proud. We should all be able to find something that makes us feel that way. It was fun, there were feathers, booty & smoke and no profanities were shunned. There was a touch of anarchy, the same heartfelt anarchy that made the movie Priscilla, Queen of the desert one of very few enjoyable musical comedies. Event - Year of the Fire horse (2026)

Happy Newyear and congratulations to all those born in the Year of the Horse.. even more so because you also bring luck to us Dogs. This Chinese Newyear started on February 17th and since the festivities are ongoing till March 3rd; this weekend the celebration came to the peaceful town of Tongeren. It should have been decently announced by the city, because now most people stumbled upon it by accident or due to being linked to Naahm Kuen , the local Kung Fu / Tai Chi club. A celebration like this deserves more! Mostly because it was a colourful feast for all ages and a very well executed Lion dance by Yip's Lion Dance Team . Waar de meesten enkele jaren geleden nog dachten dat de LGBTQIA+ gemeenschap eindelijk de rechten hadden gekregen waar alle mensen recht op hebben, Prides hun protest-aspect niet langer nodig zouden hebben en op termijn konden vervellen tot een feest waar straight en minder straight mekaar kunnen ontmoeten, is de situatie ondertussen erg veranderd. Dit weekend, op zaterdag 28 juni 2025, trokken bijna 200.000 LGBTQIA+-personen, hun Allies en iedereen die geeft om democratische burgerrechten door de straten van Boedapest ondanks een verbod van de hoogste politieke leider, ondanks de strenge straffen die hen te wachten stonden. Overal ter wereld draaien autocratische leiders de rechten van hun burgers terug en de LGBTQIA+-groep lijdt hier enorm onder. In plaats van er enkel verdrietig om te zijn en zich erbij neer te leggen, is de gemeenschap strijdvaardig om niet enkel haar rechten, maar de rechten van alle burgers te verdedigen. Event - Geeks & Freaks (2026)

Okay-okay . It might be a last minute announcement, but #theRed360 will be present at Geeks & Freaks II in Maastricht (31st of January + 1st of Februay) And YES, a spin on #theRED360 of Deep Red Noise vzw will be FREE/GRATIS/GRATUIT  thanks to the fair organizers. So come visit our tiny corner of the MECC in Maastricht, and if the booth has enough room, I - Red Cathedral - might even make some cosplay portraits again. If you can & want to donate 1€ for your 360°-spin, that money will be used to help local stray cats. Last edition's donations helped with food, a castration, treating a hurt paw and finding a kitten a safe home.. and bonus: one stray entered my bedroom on a tuesday and simply decided to become a house cat. The following day was a Wednesday so I named him:  W..W.. Whisky ! Sony tech - Save/load camera settings

It's true: once you have completely set-up your Sony Alpha / FX-camera to your likings as I showed you in this video / article , you can save those settings in some of the cameras. This feature can be found on the following Sony cameras at the moment : A7RIV, A9II, A7SIII, A1, A7IV, FX6, FX3, FX30, A7RV. And it seems to be an overlooked feature, judging by the astonished reactions during the trainings I give. 1. What? Save/load settings means you can load a series of settings onto you camera from a memory card or from your phone via the free Sony Imaging Edge Mobile app. Other way around you can save some of your settings onto a memory card or onto your phone. On a memory card you can save 10 settings. ( SD or CFExpress A, depending on your camera) On your phone you can save 22 settings. ( Which are most of the important settings ) Some info you cannot save due to privacy regulations ( Copyright info for example ) You cannot swap settings between different camera types at ...
