Collab - Summer has arrived

Honestly: I have never seen so many poppies in the fields as this June. 

Evidently there is a perfectly scientific explanation for it (poppies are more resistant than other wild flowers and so they thrive while the other flowers have perished during the hot summers of the last years)

On a strictly artistic level I just had to make some poppy shots. This is the first, more will follow on Flickr.

A heads-up: on November 17th 2024 we'll be hosting a videobooth on Geek Village ( Thor Central, Genk ) in room 12 ( named Trovao ). Sony tech - Using A-mount lenses on E-mount cameras

This article is about using (vintage) Minolta/Sigma/Sony/Tamron/.. A-mount lenses on contemporary Sony E-mount cameras. Since the Sony LA-EA5 adapter has been released I have been answering dozens of the same questions about compatibility issues from both retailers and end-users. Some questions & personal experiences with the different adapters were special, so I have tested some combinations and made a small list of my findings. Collab - D'Ursel cosplay day (2024)

Eventhough many September days in 2024 feel more like November days, on Sunday the 15th it was good to be outside. Outside in the park of castle d'Ursel in Hingene the infamous Geert had gathered yet again a mass of cosplayers & photogs and as always I had hidden my set, this time behind an old wall. No line of sight onto the castle, but perfect for " Cosplayers with natural light " & some " Extreme shoot through ". Why not use the castle as a backdrop, you might ask?  It's a pretty castle, yes. It has one really interesting side, alas it was too crowded to build a set & get a constant, uninterupted view. On a quiet day I'll gladly combine the front of the castle with an epoque gown.. but that sunny Sunday was NOT a quiet day. Sony tech - Cheaper alternatives

Yes, photography can be extremely expensive. Cameras, lenses, lights, gimballs, drones,.. Some of us need cameras with certain features and sadly enough those machines are difficult to find if your budget is limited. A basic Sony A7IV body will set you back a good 2700€.. and that's just a basic camera, not a specialized tool like an A7RV, A7CR, A7SIII, FX3, A1 or A9III.. those go up to 7000€.  And don't get me started on medium format cameras from Fuji, Hasselblad, Leica or Phase One. Often it's said that it is even more important to invest in good glass , meaning: good lenses. Those can be crazy expensive.. however.. you don't use all your lenses as often.. so maybe for some you might consider a more budget friendly option? ▷ Used lenses. ▷ Vintage lenses with an adapter . ▷ And 3rd party brands are all logical possibilities. Event - Les fêtes médiévales de Binche (2024)

Let's be really quick and dirty about this event: ▼ There was was an ice-cold wind, but most of the day it was dry, △ Each time the sun showed itself it was wonderful and we all smiled, △ Got a superb medieval cape that really helped against the wind, △ Great food ( including pancakes! ) and too much mead to taste, △ Überfriendly people ( visitors, reenactors, larpers & vendors.. sorry, I didn't run into anyone of the organisation, n or crew ) △ Excellent location: high upon the ramparts of the old city, △ Parked by accident right behind the corner of the event, △ Free parking, free toilets, and a fountain that will be useful during a future hot edition , △ Music by Skayrish , cannon fire, birds of prey, throwing things ( a bad combination with mead ),.. △ A fun afternoon eventhough it was tiny. . .   Let's provide you a few links: ▷ All photos can always be found on/downloaded from my Flickr and here ! ▷ A " How to download stills from Flickr ...

Event - Castlefest 2024

We were so scared! Scared it would rain.. Being wet all day isn't fun. Having the car getting stuck in a drowned parking meadow is not optimal. Getting the cameras soaked is really bad.. but the worst about rain is the mud & puddles that make everything impassable with a wheelchair However there was no need to be scared: Castlefest had some nice Sunday Summer weather! Event - Belgian Airforce Days

As you might know: Sanicole 2022 was the first event I shot some airshow stills and it was while working at the Sony booth. Actually it was good fun, not só very different from the fast cars I shot over 15 years ago.. and the cameras have advanced quite a bit since then. Since the airshows in Limburg (BE) alternate between the airbases of Sanicole & Kleine-Brogel, this year we were invited to the military airbase of Kleine-Brogel with a booth during the Belgian Airforce Days. . . Yes, those BAF-Days were during the heatwave of early September and now it's the last week of November.. and I still have almost 200 selected stills to process. Maybe that tells you something about the workload of these last months and of the prioritization. . And that's too bad because it was a great event to work  ( Eventhough I could hardly stand on my foot due to a tear in the ankle ligament which hurt as much as this spit that's haunting me at the moment.. Sony tech - Rename your photo & video files in-camera

Normally all your photos will be named " DSC123 " and your videos " C123 ". But that's the best way to loose oversight, to overwrite and to forget what was shot when/with which camera. There are solutions for this in the new and newest Sony Alpha / FX / ZV / RX - cameras PHOTO FILES You should give your photo files personalized names instead of that generic ”Dsc” prefix. This is possible on the current Alpha, Rx, Zv, and FX‐cameras from Sony. I give mine the prefix of the used camera because I work with several cameras. But you might just as well use something more personal like something that points to your name or your company / brand name. Or even change the name temporarily if you have a big project. Why? A few of the many reasons: 1. I own and work with several cameras ( during events normally 2 main + 1 BTS ) So it's important while editing/sorting to immediately see which camera made what. 2.
