Music - Coverband "Het Probleem is"

-

Friends of mine started a band called "Het probleem is" and now they're playing in the streets of Mechelen to gather money for some studio time. So if you see them play: toss a coin to your witcher!

contact: Het probleem is on Facebook

A video for Youtube and one for Clapper + some pictures are my contribution because I can't play any instrument.
Normally I don't post here before all videos & pictures are done, but I'm lagging behind with processing.. so.. have a few teaser images.

"Het probleem is" If you spot these street musicians in Mechelen, toss them a coin

"Het probleem is" If you spot these street musicians in Mechelen.. Toss a coin to your Witcher. "Het probleem is".. Toss a coin to your Witcher

Sony tech - Using A-mount lenses on E-mount cameras

-

This article is about using (vintage) Minolta/Sigma/Sony/Tamron/.. A-mount lenses on contemporary Sony E-mount cameras. Since the Sony LA-EA5 adapter has been released I have been answering dozens of the same questions about compatibility issues from both retailers and end-users. Some questions & personal experiences with the different adapters were special, so I have tested some combinations and made a small list of my findings. Yes, at first -back in 2021- I wanted to make this into a Youtube video.. alas I don't like looking at myself so I stopped editing it. And then in 2023 I glued some of those old clips together into: https://youtu.be/-VLe6eBQpME 1. Sample images are in this Flickr folder ( always making more sample images) 2. Gear Used : 2.1. Adapters : LA-EA3, LA-EA4, LA-EA5 2.2. E-mount cameras cat1: A1, A7SIII, A7IV, A7RV, FX30, ZV-E1 2.3. E-mount cameras cat2: A9II, A7III, A7RIV, A7C, A6600, A6400, ZV-E10 ( also goes for A7RIII, A9, A6100 ) 2.4. E-...

Sony tech - Photo Capture from video-function

-
Afbeelding
A question I often get during events is: " Don't you find it just awful when you're filming a bit and suddenly you see an image that would have made a great photo? " But there is a solution to fix this: The Photo Capture function in the current generations of Sony cameras just might save you. ( Yes, this is a photo Capture from an A7III 4k 25p 8bit 4.2.0 video. ) Which cameras? I've been using this function since my A7III. It can also be activated on for example A7RIII, A7SIII, A7RIV, A7IV, A9, A9II, A1, A7RV, A7C, FX30, A6100, A6400, A6600, ZV-E10, ZV-1, ZV-1F, RX100VII, and even on some Sony video cameras . Full Youtube video Went live on February 10th 2023 ( Yes, 1.5 years after this article was written.. and I still don't enjoy watching/hearing/editing myself on the screen ) How does it work? 1. You shoot a video. ( 8k, 4k, 1080p, horizontal or vertical video orientation, S&Q-video , 8bit or 10bit, 4.2.0 or 4.2.2,.. ) 2. On a quiet moment you ...

If you tell me that you don't use AI then I believe you.  However I do use it. It's incorporated in the latest generation of Sony cameras, in photo editing software like Photoshop, Topaz Labs, Luminar, Lightroom,.. Video editors like Runway use it. It's in your phone, your car, your house, your browser and it's evolving faster than any scifi author could have imagined 10 years ago.  AI is everywhere and just like the climatic abberations humanity has caused: it's here to stay and to change our lives. The cyberpunk dystopia that was imagined in the last decennia of the 20th century is our present.. and so is all the corporate/religious/state control, the fear-mongering, the lack of common sense, the self-destructive behaviour for short term wins/profits, the dumbing down, the fear/hate for the unknown, the lack of schooling that opens the mind instead of turning bright young people into worker ants who only believe those who yell the hardest, the black/white thinki...

Sony tech - Rename your photo & video files in-camera

-
Afbeelding
Normally all your photos will be named " DSC123 " and your videos " C123 ". But that's the best way to loose oversight, to overwrite and to forget what was shot when/with which camera. There are solutions for this in the new and newest Sony Alpha / FX / ZV / RX - cameras PHOTO FILES You should give your photo files personalized names instead of that generic ”Dsc” prefix. This is possible on the current Alpha, Rx, Zv, and FX‐cameras from Sony. I give mine the prefix of the used camera because I work with several cameras. But you might just as well use something more personal like something that points to your name or your company / brand name. Or even change the name temporarily if you have a big project. Why? A few of the many reasons: 1. I own and work with several cameras ( during events normally 2 main + 1 BTS ) So it's important while editing/sorting to immediately see which camera made what. 2. We often work in teams during large events. This way w...

Event - Kermis Tongeren (2026)

-
Afbeelding

Collab - Steampunk & Victorian shootday (2023)

Sometimes, when you don't choose a shooting location yourself, you arrive, you sigh deeply and think: " How am I going to make this work? " But last Sunday I arrived at the castle of Tillegem and went: " Oh, this is a pretty castle.. I like that tower. " So I just looked for an angle from where I could set up camp and did just that after only a quarter tour around. There where doublessly better & more interesting angles. I could have changed spots as I usually do.. But with an ankle that's still healing from serious injury this wasn't an option. Hence, yes.. most shots have a very similar look. After a wet, cold & weird Summer, this September has become a perfect Indian Summer; warm, sunny and with steampunkish dresses. The weather was perfect & most people were smiling. INFO: A photos will be downloadable from my extremely ecclectic Flickr (UPDATE: all done) A video will  go to my Clapper & Instagram Updates on progress will be o...

Sony tech - The A7RV menu system

-
Afbeelding
For those who have received their Sony A7RV camera and are new to the Sony ecosystem or who want to find some of the new features hidden in the menu of this 61MP-behemoth with it's extra AI Autofocussing processor ( yes, that makes 3 processors inside 1 camera ) I'm doing a walkthough. There will be some real-life samples with cats, cows, fighterjets & horses, some things you probably already know and best of all: 40 minutes of my hoarse bronchitis-stricken voice. Enjoy . The Youtube video : Some of the items touched in this video: Auto ISO minimum shutter speed, different AF options, setting up the Fn/favorites menu & buttons, 1 button tracking, 1 button APS-C/Super35 mode, Clear image zoom, saving your camera settings, using your cellphone as a remote, .. Sample images made with A7RV ( mostly made before there was any RAW-support )

Event - Pride Parade 2026

Love the person you fall in love with.. and be happy if that person loves you back.  Be the person you feel you are.. and live your life in peace and in harmony with the world. Is the situation good if you have to copy the main body of text from last years' events? If a situation is good, it's a good sign. If a situation is dire or even sketchy.. then.. Never forget that a Pride is actually a protest march to make you remember that there are compatriots of yours struggling to have the same rights & possibilities as you just because they refuse to hide their true feelings & their true self in the bottom drawer of a dark closet like so many did before them in order to comply with a general opinion that was imposed on people by several dogmatic, patriarchal religions and authoritarian politicians. ( and their following ) A Pride is about being persecuted for doing no wrong to anyone else. About making choices that matter to yourself and no-one else should feel ...

Collab - Steampunk explorers of the Unknown

During the shooting day at the Verbeke Foundation last month I got a quick glimpse of this soon-to-be-married steampunk couple. And BAM here they are again! I blame it on Geert who keeps on bringing cosplayers & photographers together. I still had an explorer/haunted mansion/Cthulhu investigator-idea with a Lovecraftian vibe like the tabletop RPG's Call of Cthulu & Candela Obscure to shoot with them from last time at this location.. so I made this ▼ All photos are on Flickr ( UPDATE: everything has been uploaded ) A short video will go to Clapper & Instagram . Updates on how fast I advance in processing are on the Facebook page . Video 1 on Clapper: In the trenches of 1899 (= a slightly different version from the IG video) Video 2 on Clapper: Discoveries Video 3 on Clapper: A random encounter in Hell Some samples while waiting for me to finish work: . Event - Geek Village Open Air (2026)

-
Afbeelding
