Event - Cars & Coffee Tongeren (2026)

nullThis Cars & Coffee-meeting was again hosted by Café Poorthuis in Tongeren. If the name of this event rings a bell, that might be because there are C&C-meetings all over the world. 

Old vs new, yet both are 100% purebred Porsche

"Cars & Coffee is the global phenomenon where the passion of supercar owners and enthusiasts become reality. It is a world class, multibrand and multiperiod display to share the emotions conveyed by the roar of powerful engines and by the sight of so many stunning cars", 

Is what the official Cars & Coffee website states. However: their events have ceased since 2022 and yet in the following weeks there will be similarly named meetings all over Europe. 

The multibrand and multiperiod statements were absolutely true for the Tongeren meeting. Oldtimers, youngtimers, brand new supercars and the occasional hypercar.  Brits, Germans, Japanese, Americans, French, Scandinavians, Dutch and evidently some fiery Italians. And with Aston Martin Brussels being the sponsor: loads of Astons shining in that lovely Autumn sun.

Smooth looking cars, a very good white wine, an excellent toast, splendid weather,  and the people visiting were really chill. Because cars were constantly coming and going, every photo opportunity was a unique snapshot. In this way, every visitor essentially has a completely unique experience.

This article is about using (vintage) Minolta/Sigma/Sony/Tamron/.. A-mount lenses on contemporary Sony E-mount cameras. Since the Sony LA-EA5 adapter has been released I have been answering dozens of the same questions about compatibility issues from both retailers and end-users. Having this kind of historical re-enactment in Tongeren is actually the most logical event possible. Tongeren is imbued with Roman history: from the statue of Ambiorix , over the ancient walls, via the treaty Iulianus Apostata signed here with the Salian Franks, to the ever-expanding Roman legion during the Kroningsfeesten Tongeren holds the distinction of being Belgium's first city , founded by the Romans as the administrative center of the Civitas Tungrorum around the first century BC After Julius Caesar's conquest of Gaul the Romans built substantial infrastructure, creating a strategic settlement that controlled the local road networks and riverways.   Atuatuca Tungrorum, was the administrative hub for the region and was named after the Germanic Tungri-tribe.   If you want to know more about the history of the city and see the remainders with your own eyes, visit the Gallo-Roman museum and the Teseum , they're right next to one anot...

Sony tech - Photo Capture from video-function

A question I often get during events is: " Don't you find it just awful when you're filming a bit and suddenly you see an image that would have made a great photo? " But there is a solution to fix this: The Photo Capture function in the current generations of Sony cameras just might save you. ( Yes, this is a photo Capture from an A7III 4k 25p 8bit 4.2.0 video. ) Which cameras? I've been using this function since my A7III. Sony tech - Rename your photo & video files in-camera

Normally all your photos will be named " DSC123 " and your videos " C123 ". But that's the best way to loose oversight, to overwrite and to forget what was shot when/with which camera. There are solutions for this in the new and newest Sony Alpha / FX / ZV / RX - cameras PHOTO FILES You should give your photo files personalized names instead of that generic ”Dsc” prefix. This is possible on the current Alpha, Rx, Zv, and FX‐cameras from Sony. I give mine the prefix of the used camera because I work with several cameras. But you might just as well use something more personal like something that points to your name or your company / brand name. Or even change the name temporarily if you have a big project. Why? Event - Kermis Tongeren (2026)

Waarom zeg ik steeds ja zodra ik gevraagd word om enkele beelden te maken op een kermis? Smoutebollen! Maar zal ik daar nog lang van kunnen genieten? Het fenomeen waarbij een heel kermisdorp van stad naar stad reist — zoals nu van Tongeren-Borgloon naar de Kermis in Hasselt — is typisch West-Europees . Hoewel vermaak universeel is, is de specifieke cultuur van de reizende foor die het openbare stadsgezicht tijdelijk overneemt, diep geworteld in de geschiedenis van de Lage Landen, Frankrijk en Duitsland.  De Belgische kermiscultuur is uniek en veerkrachtig: op 4 december 2024 werd de Belgische kermiscultuur  trouwens officieel erkend als UNESCO Immaterieel Cultureel Erfgoed. Event - Geek Village Open Air (2026)

Morgen, tijdens de laatste tropische dag van de 5e Limburgse hittegolf deze zomer, opent Geek Village Open Air in kasteel Hex of Heks.. kies zelf maar welke schrijfwijze je leuker vindt. Met de 360° spinner zijn we in open lucht aanwezig, maar niet continue gezien de hitte en omdat we vanop een accu draaien. Normaliter staan we tussen 16-18u op het binnenplein van het kasteel en misschien doorheen de dagen heel kort even op nog enkele verborgen plekjes. UPDATE: A angezien er enkele internet hiccups waren tijdens de tests, zullen de unedited 360-clips NIET via de cloud te downloaden zijn. Vul hier jouw personage & e-mail in zodat ik vanavond de clip(s) via Swisstransfer doorstuur. Check zeker jouw SPAMBOX indien je niets ziet verschijnen. Het kasteel en de tuinen zijn alvast prachtig en Geek Village heeft na de vorige edities  wat te bewijzen, maar ze zitten vol goeie moed en inzet, dus afwachten maar. Love the person you fall in love with.. and be happy if that person loves you back.  Be the person you feel you are.. and live your life in peace and in harmony with the world. Is the situation good if you have to copy the main body of text from last years' events? If a situation is good, it's a good sign. If a situation is dire or even sketchy.. then.. Never forget that a Pride is actually a protest march to make you remember that there are compatriots of yours struggling to have the same rights & possibilities as you just because they refuse to hide their true feelings & their true self in the bottom drawer of a dark closet like so many did before them in order to comply with a general opinion that was imposed on people by several dogmatic, patriarchal religions and authoritarian politicians. If you tell me that you don't use AI then I believe you.  However I do use it. It's incorporated in the latest generation of Sony cameras, in photo editing software like Photoshop, Topaz Labs, Luminar, Lightroom,.. Video editors like Runway use it. It's in your phone, your car, your house, your browser and it's evolving faster than any scifi author could have imagined 10 years ago.  AI is everywhere and just like the climatic abberations humanity has caused: it's here to stay and to change our lives. Sony tech - Stop getting lost in the Sony Menu

Follow these 3 steps that will avoid you getting lost the Sony menu structure. Step 1 Program all functionalities you need to do on the fly and while your eye is at the EVF to a button. Your muscle memory will quickly learn what is where. (This video has subtitles.. use them. These are in English . For other languagues use ► settings ► subtitles ► automatic translation) Step 2 Set up the fn or function menu with everything you use all the time and you need to change in 2 clicks. In the latest cameras like the A7RV, ZV‐1F and FX30 you can activate this menu by swiping up on the led-screen. You can choose for the buttons and fn menu completely different functions depending whether you are in stills, video or play mode. Het landschap van de boekenbeurzen in Vlaanderen is de afgelopen jaren fundamenteel veranderd , mede door het wegvallen van de traditionele Antwerpse Boekenbeurs die ik jarenlang trouw bezocht voor werk en plezier. Na het faillissement van die oude Boekenbeurs ontstond er een groot gat. Dat is niet zozeer opgevuld door honderden kleine rommelmarkten, maar wel door een nieuwe generatie thematische, intieme beurzen én de razendsnelle opkomst van Boektopia.  In plaats van één gigantische hal waar alles samenkwam, kiezen nieuwe initiatieven resoluut voor één genre of doelgroep (zoals Fabel Fest voor fantasy of StoryHeaven in Brussel). Voor Belgische (en vooral Vlaamse) auteurs zijn deze beurzen cruciaal geworden, maar op een andere manier dan vroeger.  Enerzijds is er het  direct lezerscontact.   Grote auteurs stonden vroeger urenlang mechanisch te signeren in Antwerpen.
