Event - O-Parade Genk (2024)

Every May 1st, a national holiday in Belgium, Genk becomes a city of colour, of fantasy and of cheering people. 55000 cheering people in 2024 to be exact. Because that many people lined the road for the O-parade. Luckily at the same time it's kermis (carnival fair), jaarmarkt (market), fireworks, and hundreds of stalls to drink & eat.. a grand total of 130000 visitors for 1 day is a lot for a city with only 63000 inhabitants.

These are some impressions from the editions in 2022 & 2023. 

Eventhough 2024 has had an extremely rainy, stormy and dreary Spring, the weather shifted for a few days and the parade enjoyed the sun and a decent 26°Fahrenheit. The day after it rained again and was 14 degrees colder. So a big thanks to all the witches who made sure Beltane would be a great day.

(Just know that it was my own fault because I was filming while the dragon spinned around and still the driver apologized, so: respect.. and I'm 100% sure the dragon's bump is bigger than mine.😏)

This article is about using (vintage) Minolta/Sigma/Sony/Tamron/.. A-mount lenses on contemporary Sony E-mount cameras. Since the Sony LA-EA5 adapter has been released I have been answering dozens of the same questions about compatibility issues from both retailers and end-users. Some questions & personal experiences with the different adapters were special, so I have tested some combinations and made a small list of my findings. Event - Geek Village Genk (2024)

A heads-up: on November 17th 2024 we'll be hosting a videobooth on Geek Village ( Thor Central, Genk ) in room 12 ( named Trovao ). It will be the 1st time we put the 360° videobooth on a fair.. so it's somewhere between in between scary & exciting. Since it's the 1st time and we have a full room at our disposal, we might set up a small photobooth aswel as a free bonus for our clients. Come visit us! Collab - D'Ursel cosplay day (2024)

Eventhough many September days in 2024 feel more like November days, on Sunday the 15th it was good to be outside. Outside in the park of castle d'Ursel in Hingene the infamous Geert had gathered yet again a mass of cosplayers & photogs and as always I had hidden my set, this time behind an old wall. No line of sight onto the castle, but perfect for " Cosplayers with natural light " & some " Extreme shoot through ". Why not use the castle as a backdrop, you might ask?  It's a pretty castle, yes. It has one really interesting side, alas it was too crowded to build a set & get a constant, uninterupted view. On a quiet day I'll gladly combine the front of the castle with an epoque gown.. but that sunny Sunday was NOT a quiet day. Collab - Dryad fantasy boudoir

Sometimes models come with a boudoir proposition that both sparks my interest and comes at a moment where I have the time to execute it: fantasy boudoir with a Dryad and an Elf in a magical forest .. but softer than the work for The Dark Cathedral and non-nude. " OK, let's do it ," I nodded while already scrolling through my cramped agenda. Evidently I needed a location.. and a back-up location.. just in case . A magical meadow with wildflowers, tree-filtered light and surrounded by young treelings that I had spotted during a hike just days before seemed perfect. A Monday-shoot would ensure that few to no hikers would interfere. Evidently Murphy's law struck, as during the last check at the location a crew was mowing everything away. No worries, for there's a plan B: a bit further into the wild where I had previously done a barbarian shoot . Water, young green trees, awesome eventhough with less magical light. We were so scared! Scared it would rain.. Being wet all day isn't fun. Having the car getting stuck in a drowned parking meadow is not optimal. Getting the cameras soaked is really bad.. but the worst about rain is the mud & puddles that make everything impassable with a wheelchair However there was no need to be scared: Castlefest had some nice Sunday Summer weather! Elftopia is the only outdoors fantasy Summer event aka Renaissance fair in Flanders. Every year I say: " This was my last visit to Elftopia ." Landscape - Le Massif Central

You are completely correct when you think: ▷ Sometimes a person needs to leave their comfort zone to feel comfortable. ▷ The person that comes down a mountain isn't always the same as the person who went up the mountain. ▷ Sometimes when you feel troubled, all you need is a mountain. Once you get to the top of it and watch the world from above, you quickly find a different perspective. Maybe your troubles aren't as insurmountable as they seemed before the purifying climb.  So it was time for another offroad roadtrip with the mates. The original plans were for another trip through the Pyrenees mountain range, but these plans changed last minute into a start in Burgundy ( the dreaded Morvan, to be more precise ) and headed into the volcanic mountain range of the Massif Central . Following large parts of the pilgrim's hiking paths towards St. Jacques of Compostella we quickly realized that these trails were really tailormade for hikers, goat shepherd s or slender quads

Hey, don't you wanna know how I've been since I left you behind? (sic ISE) Only last year, in 2023, I discovered there was a music festival in Tongeren. Several bands on the list like were frequently played on the alternative radio station I listen to ( Willy Radio ). On top of that it was held in several locations scattered throughout the medieval beguinage. So I had to shoot it.. at least once..  I went for Isbells & Johannes is zijn naam . I discovered Echo Beatty , Roufaida & the fun of Lupagangang . Got Iron Maiden-beer & ice-cream to cool off. It was a good day.. so let's if 2024 can be as good. Collab - Halloween at Verbeke Foundation

Have I ever told you the story about a shooting day during which I survived all day on 1 glass of white wine? Well, that day was yesterday.  Now, knowing myself, this could easily become a long & boring story so I'll stick to the famous 6-points synopsys: ▷ Drove from the South-East of Limburg to the Verbeke Foundation, a unique and quirky museum for modern art in East-Flanders and got there really early, ▷ Started shooting cosplayers in full Halloween mode near a derelict train-crane, ▷ Drank 1 glass of white wine, ▷ Shot even more Halloween cosplayers till 15minutes after the museum had closed, ▷ Suddenly realized I had completely forgotten to eat, drink, be polite & socialize.. again. ▷ The end?
